MICROSOFT URGES FCC TO IMPROVE BROADBAND COVERAGE DATA, ENABLE USE OF BROADBAND EXCESS CAPACITY, AND EXPAND ACCESS TO SPECTRUM FOR BROADBAND

On behalf of Microsoft Corporation, LLGS filed COMMENTS in an FCC inquiry concerning the status of high-speed broadband deployment to all Americans. Microsoft suggested that the FCC should make adjustments to FCC Form 477 data collections to eliminate the overstatement of existing broadband coverage, and argued that the FCC should take actions that would enable schools receiving E-Rate support to use excess broadband capacity available during evening hours to deliver service to students’ homes. Microsoft also urged the FCC to act in TV White Spaces rulemakings and other pending proceedings to expand access to spectrum for broadband services.
