    FCC Commissioner McDowell to Resign

Today, FCC Commissioner McDowell announced that he would be resigning his position at the FCC in a few weeks. McDowell’s resignation will open up one of the two spots reserved for Republicans on the five-member FCC. Reports continue to appear in the press that FCC Chairman Genachowski will step down sometime in the next few months. Democratic and Republican commissioners are often nominated by the President as a pair in order to help with confirmation in the U.S. Senate.
